About the Role
Job Summary:
The Motor Vehicle Mechanics Instructor, based at Masulita Vocational School, will be responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training in automotive mechanics. The role focuses on equipping students with hands-on skills in vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repair, while promoting safety and industry-relevant practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver both theoretical and practical training in motor vehicle mechanics to students
Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and practical demonstrations aligned with the curriculum
Guide students in hands-on mechanical work, including vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repairs
Train students in the proper use of workshop tools, equipment, and machinery
Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, and practical assessments
Ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards within the workshop
Mentor and support students in developing technical and employability skills
Maintain and manage workshop tools, equipment, and training resources
Keep accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance
Stay updated with current automotive technologies and industry practices
Work closely with school management to ensure quality training and positive learning outcomes
Lead the process of learner assessment and certification in accordance with TVET requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
National Certificate or advanced craft certificate in Motor vehicle mechanics.
National Diploma in mechanical engineering
Officially registered as a TVET trainer.
More than 2 years’ experience in training and assessment using a UBTEB recognized module
Technical skills required
Proven hands-on experience in vehicle repair, servicing, and diagnostics
Previous teaching or training experience in a vocational setting is preferred
Strong knowledge of automotive systems and workshop practices
Behavioral skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
Ability to mentor and support students with diverse learning needs
High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to student development
Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices in electrical work
