About the Role

Job Summary: 

The Motor Vehicle Mechanics Instructor, based at Masulita Vocational School, will be responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training in automotive mechanics. The role focuses on equipping students with hands-on skills in vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repair, while promoting safety and industry-relevant practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver both theoretical and practical training in motor vehicle mechanics to students

  • Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and practical demonstrations aligned with the curriculum

  • Guide students in hands-on mechanical work, including vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repairs

  • Train students in the proper use of workshop tools, equipment, and machinery

  • Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, and practical assessments

  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards within the workshop

  • Mentor and support students in developing technical and employability skills

  • Maintain and manage workshop tools, equipment, and training resources

  • Keep accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance

  • Stay updated with current automotive technologies and industry practices

  • Work closely with school management to ensure quality training and positive learning outcomes

  • Lead the process of learner assessment and certification in accordance with TVET requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • National Certificate or advanced craft certificate in Motor vehicle mechanics.

  • National Diploma in mechanical engineering

  • Officially registered as a TVET trainer.

  • More than 2 years’ experience in training and assessment using a UBTEB recognized module

Technical skills required

  • Proven hands-on experience in vehicle repair, servicing, and diagnostics

  • Previous teaching or training experience in a vocational setting is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems and workshop practices

Behavioral skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities

  • Ability to mentor and support students with diverse learning needs

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to student development

  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices in electrical work
